A Vibrant Hub of Craft Brews, Family-Friendly Vibes, and Lively Events in Decatur’s First Brewery

Nestled in the heart of Downtown Decatur, Cross-Eyed Owl Brewing Company is a hub of local craftsmanship and community spirit. As the first brewery to open its doors in Decatur, Cross-Eyed Owl has quickly become a favorite gathering spot for locals and visitors alike, offering more than just a pint—it’s an experience.

From the moment you step inside Cross-Eyed Owl, you’re greeted by the friendly and knowledgeable staff who make you feel right at home. Whether you’re a craft beer connoisseur or a newcomer to the scene, they’re eager to guide you through their selection of original brews. Each beer on tap is crafted with care, showcasing unique flavors that range from light and refreshing to bold and complex. The brewery’s commitment to quality and creativity shines through in every sip.

Cross-Eyed Owl isn’t just for beer lovers. They’ve added a sweet twist to their offerings with soft serve ice cream and homemade root beer. Perfect for those looking for a non-alcoholic treat or a fun dessert after trying their brews, these options make the brewery a family-friendly destination. The root beer, made in-house, is a hit among kids and adults alike, providing that nostalgic soda fountain feel.

What sets Cross-Eyed Owl apart is its commitment to creating a lively and inclusive community atmosphere. One of their most popular monthly events is Singo Bingo—a fun twist on the classic game, where instead of numbers, you mark off songs as they play. It’s a night filled with laughter, music, and a little friendly competition, making it a must-attend for both regulars and newcomers.

For those looking to unwind and find balance, the brewery also hosts “Brews & Flow” with the Sage Yogis, where you can stretch and sip in a relaxed, welcoming environment. It’s a unique way to blend wellness with socializing, making it a favorite for many in the community. The class is $15 per class and make sure to bring your own yoga mat.

As summer winds down, Cross-Eyed Owl is pulling out all the stops with their End of Summer Patio Party. This event promises to be a highlight of the season, featuring on-site tie-dye activities, an old-fashioned Low-Country Shrimp boil, and live music by the Astronomical Blues Society. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer—good food, great music, and a lively atmosphere that brings the community together.

For the true Cross-Eyed Owl enthusiasts, the Mug Club offers an exclusive experience. Members receive a personalized mug that’s kept at the brewery, larger pours at the same price as a regular pint, and special discounts on merchandise and events. It’s the perfect way to show your support for Decatur’s first brewery while enjoying some great perks along the way.

Cross-Eyed Owl Brewing Company isn’t just a place to grab a drink—it’s a community hub where everyone is welcome. Whether you’re there for the craft beer, the soft serve, the monthly events, or the camaraderie of the Mug Club, you’ll find yourself returning time and time again. As Decatur’s first brewery, Cross-Eyed Owl has set the bar high, combining quality, creativity, and community in a way that’s uniquely their own.

Big news for country music fans: Rock the South, one of the South’s most beloved music festivals, is making a major move. Beginning in 2026 , the three-day summer tradition will take place at its brand-new, permanent home— The Fields at Decatur —from June 11–13, 2026 . For more than 14 years, Rock the South has grown into a can’t-miss event, drawing fans from across the region to celebrate music, community, and Southern culture. Now, with its move to Decatur (just south of Huntsville and an hour from Birmingham), the festival is stepping into a bold new chapter. This relocation marks the first time Peachtree Entertainment—the team behind Rock the South—will fully own its festival grounds. That means long-term investments to enhance comfort, convenience, and fan experiences for years to come. The new site promises: 150+ acres of usable space for easy flow and bigger crowds. Expanded campgrounds with engineered drainage, designed to keep the fun going rain or shine. More shade and cooling zones to beat the Alabama heat. A reimagined VIP area plus new fan hangout spaces. A second stage presented by Raised Rowdy , doubling the music and energy. Nathan Baugh, CEO of Peachtree Entertainment, summed it up: “Rock the South has always been about more than music; it’s about tradition, community, and celebrating the South at its best. The Fields at Decatur gives us the space to do it right—and to make even bigger moments than ever before.”
