Volunteer Opportunities in Morgan County
North Alabama Scottish Festival & Highland Games
The North Alabama Scottish Festival and Highland Games held over two-days at Point Mallard Park in March, is an exciting celebration of Scottish heritage, featuring traditional music, dancing, and athletic competitions. Volunteers play a crucial role in bringing this vibrant event to life, helping with activities ranging from children’s games, event setup and take down, entry gate, merchandise tent, guest assistance/information tent, and ground support. Join us for a unique opportunity to connect with the community, experience Scottish culture up close, and make lasting memories while supporting a beloved local tradition. Letters for verifying community service are available, volunteers are given a t-shirt, beverages, lunch, and a volunteer tent to retreat to.

Hartselle Depot Days
Depot Days is Hartselle’s largest annual festival, bringing the community together for a full day of local vendors, food, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities throughout the downtown district.
Volunteer Activities:
- Event set-up & breakdown (vendor assistance, signage, logistics)
- Info booth support (t-shirt sales, maps, guest assistance)
- Vendor support / floaters across festival zones
- Activity-specific support (kids zone, petting zoo, art show, car show, hospitality, parking & check-in)
Approximately 100–150 volunteers across multiple zones, shifts, and specialty areas throughout the day.

AJA Junior Golf Tournament
The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls, ages 12-19) of more than 7,000 junior golfers from 50 states and 60 foreign countries
- Timing Stations: Record groups’ times and scores at timing station holes.
- Players Registration: Assist the AJGA staff in registering golfers and handing out registration gifts.
- Water Rover: Refresh and ice down AJGA water coolers on the course throughout the day.
- Spotter: Watch player's tee shots and assist in finding their golf balls if gone astray.
- Medical Attendant: Assist with any medical issues during the event. (MUST be CPR/First Aid Certified)

Carnegie Carnival
Take place annually the Saturday before Mardi Gras. The event fills the city’s historic downtown area with 3 parades, a half marathon and 5K, floats, children's art activities, music and other family-friendly fun, all while promoting art and creativity in our city. Volunteers needed for:
- Half marathon registration & packet pickup
- Assembly of race bags (prior to the event)
- Day of Event Race registration
- Day of Event Race Finish Line Activities
- Day of Event Children's Art Activities
Approximately 75-100 volunteers needed for the event and event related activities.

Decatur Morgan County Visitor Center
Decatur Morgan County Tourism (DMCT) is a Destination Management/Marketing Organization (DMO).Our mission is to market the county’s unique assets—from the Tennessee River to historic downtown Decatur—to both individual travelers and large-scale groups like sports tournaments and conventions.
The Visitor Center, located at 350 Market Street NE, serves as a resource for the community, turning quick stops into overnight stays.

NAIA Men's & Women's Lacrosse Championships and Champions Banquet
We’re looking for volunteers to help with the NAIA Men’s & Women’s Lacrosse Championship Banquet! This is a great opportunity to be part of a premier championship event and help us create a welcoming, memorable experience for teams and guests.
Volunteer roles may include assisting with event setup (table linens, centerpieces, backdrops, filling coolers, etc.), greeting and directing guests, and helping with tear-down after the banquet.

A fun volunteer opportunity at the Decatur Art Guild's Arts & Crafts Show--a part of the Alabama Jubilee Hot Air Balloon Classic (Memorial Day weekend)
- Helping in the Art Activity Tent, Interactive Fence Art
- Drink Wagon Crew- Booth Sitting - Food Runners
- Set up help on Friday, putting out Signs, Tear down on Sunday
- Work with the American Legion Auxiliary in the new Poppy Project Tent
