Flint Creek Canoe Trail

A recent addition to the trail offerings, the Flint Creek Canoe Trail allows access to the heart of the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge, making it an excellent opportunity for birdwatching.
The route begins at the Flint Creek Casual Ramp and ends at Osprey Point, covering approximately 1.5 miles of easy paddling. Along the way, keep an eye out for turtles, fish, deer, and a variety of birds that call the refuge home.

This lively mural, created by Britt Flood and supported by the Alabama Center for the Arts & Downtown Decatur Redevelopment Authority, pays tribute to local wildlife, wildflowers, and the beloved Alabama Jubilee hot air balloons. It transforms an alley off Johnston Street SE into a vibrant urban masterpiece.
