GCAC Cross Country Championship in Decatur!

The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship will bring 5 teams to compete in Decatur, Alabama!

The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) is a college athletic conference made up entirely of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) that's affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Member institutions of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference are located in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi. On October 21, 2022 the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference will be hosting their cross country championships here in Decatur at the Oakville Indian Mound Cross Country Course! The athletes will start the race at 8:00 AM.



This is the first year the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference is hosting its Cross Country Championship in Decatur, Alabama! They have invited five teams to compete in this year's championship. Those teams will be coming from:


Rust College -located in Holly Springs, Mississippi

Tougaloo College- located in Jackson, Mississippi

Philander Smith College- located in Little Rock, Arkansas

Dillard University- located in New Orleans, Louisiana

Wiley College- located in Marshall, Texas



We wish the best of luck to all of the athletes! If you would like to watch the race yourself, you can attend at the Oakville Indian Cross Country Course located approximately 7 miles southeast of Moulton, just off of Alabama Highway 157 and one-half mile from the Jesse Owens Memorial Park at 1219 Country Road 187.
