Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, family gatherings, and, for many, a delightful feast. But before you indulge in your favorite holiday treats, how about starting your Thanksgiving Day with a fun, healthy, and charitable event? The 3M Decatur Annual Turkey Trot, now in its 9th year, invites you to lace up your running shoes and join the festivities in Downtown Decatur, AL.

On Thanksgiving morning, the streets of Decatur come alive with runners and walkers of all ages participating in the 5K event, the 1-mile Fun Run/Walk, and the adrenaline-pumping 5K Crossfit Challenge. It's an opportunity to kickstart your holiday celebrations while supporting a worthy cause—benefiting the United Way of Morgan County.

The event not only promotes fitness and wellness but also fosters a sense of community. Whether you're a seasoned runner or simply want to enjoy a brisk walk with family and friends, there's something for everyone. Plus, what better way to preemptively burn off some calories before indulging in a Thanksgiving feast later in the day?

Registration for the Turkey Trot is open to all, with early birds securing a guaranteed event t-shirt if registered before November 10th. Pricing stands at $30 for the 5K event, $25 for the 1-mile event, and $35 for the Crossfit Challenge. But remember, prices increase by $5 on November 17th.

Moreover, beyond the personal health benefits, your participation directly contributes to supporting the United Way of Morgan County.

Every registration fee and additional contribution helps this organization continue its impactful work in the community.

The race day schedule is packed with excitement, starting at 8 AM with the 5K Run and 5K Crossfit Challenge, followed by the One Mile Fun Run at 9 AM. Additionally, don't forget to pick up your race packet and t-shirt on Wednesday, November 22nd, at the Cross Eyed Owl Brewery from 4 pm to 7 pm, or on Thursday, November 23rd, before the race at the Old State Bank.

For those looking to enjoy a fulfilling Thanksgiving morning, fostering community spirit, promoting fitness, and supporting a charitable cause, the 3M Decatur Annual Turkey Trot is the perfect way to start your day.

So, gather your friends, family, and anyone enthusiastic about a morning of fitness and goodwill. Let's come together, celebrate, and make a meaningful difference in our community this Thanksgiving. Lace-up, sign up, and trot for a cause!

Decatur, Alabama, is gearing up for a vibrant and meaningful Juneteenth celebration this year, honoring the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and recognizing the enduring struggle for equality. This was nearly two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Black Texans began celebrating the day in 1866, and it has evolved into a widely observed holiday. The Juneteenth holiday is a day for reflection, education, and community celebration. Want to celebrate Juneteenth?
